Fixby Osteo

Nina Victoria Gallagher

Nina Victoria Gallagher trained for five years in London, at the British School of Osteopathy, British College of Naturopathy and Osteopathy and University of Westminster; graduating in 1994/95 with a BSc (Honours) in Osteopathic Medicine, Diploma in Osteopathy and Diploma in Naturopathy. The degree programme is underpinned by thorough academic and clinical training. Following graduation she founded 'The Fixby Osteopathic Practice' now known as 'Fixby Osteo'. While developing this practice, she worked as an associate in a variety of different clinical settings; these included a large fund holding GP practice in Doncaster, a private sports injury clinic in Sheffield, private osteopathic practice in Otley and two large multidisciplinary practices in Leeds. These different settings provided an excellent opportunity to develop her professional skills as an Osteopath and Naturopath, as well as experience in practice management and building excellent relationships with medical and complementary practitioners.

Her introduction to Osteopathy came after a tennis injury to her lower back at 17. Having received treatment and gained valuable relief, enabling her to resume her sport, she decided that she wanted to be able to make that kind of difference to other people's lives, so Osteopathy was where her professional ambition lay and the rest they say is history!

Through her undergraduate and ongoing post graduate training she has had the privilege to be taught by some of the most inspirational and influential osteopaths, naturopaths and doctors in both the complementary and orthodox medical fields and this has led to the development of a true passion for the principles and practice of naturopathic osteopathy and natural healthcare, but also seeing the great value of using the best orthodox treatments, with an integrated approach, and usingĀ her knowledge and continuing professional education in the mind/body field to improve and enhance the health and wellbeing of allĀ her patients.

A particular interest in golf injuries has developed in parallel with her osteopathy and golf, which is one of her sporting passions! - She has attended many post graduate courses on golf injury, nutrition, development of exercise programmes and psychological performance coaching in golf, at the PGA Headquarters at the Belfry, Woodhall Spa and Forest of Arden Golfing Academies. These skills she is using to develop a programme in 'Golf Performance' to enable golfers at all levels be fitter and improve their performance both mentally and physically on the golf course.

Over the years she has written several articles on osteopathic and naturopathic healthcare for the British Osteopathic Association, publications such as Woman's Own and The Natural Health Directory.

She brings a wealth of experience in the fields of osteopathic and naturopathic healthcare and the coaching and fitness industry for more than 15 years. She follows a compulsory and comprehensive professional development programme in which she is constantly enhancing her professional skills and knowledge. She particularly draws on her experience in the field of psychoneuroimmunology, which focuses on the interplay between the mind and body and therefore can provide you with the best and most holistic treatment approach designed with your unique needs in mind. She is especially well known for her treatments with pregnant women, babies and children, receiving many referrals from midwives and health visitors. She treats patients from all walks of life including consultants and doctors. Such is her reputation that patients travel from all over the country to attend her practice.
